The aims of this study were to analyze, based on a systematic literature revision, the indications and the main results of the surgical and conventional (diet and physical activity) treatments. The two treatment forms have presented progresses in the last years. Despite, there is still a serie of interrogations regarding the limits and applications of each procedure. However, there is an evident tendency on the association of the methods, based on a multiprofissional intervention as a form of enhancing the results.
