Abstract
The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of different hand paddle sizes on front crawl kinematics under intensity related to perceived effort index of 17 on Borg Scale. Ten regional level swimmers (age = 17.6 3.7 years) performed twelve 50 m trials, 20 s rest, on three situations: without paddles (SP), with little paddles (PP; 183 cm²) and with medium paddles (PM; 260 cm²). On the situations with hand paddles, stroke length (DC) increased and stroke rate (FC) decreased (p < 0.001). Due to DC increasing, swimmers adopted a FC reduction to maintain the proposed perceived effort, without changes in swimming velocity (VN).Downloads
