Analysis of the feminine maturation: an emphasis on the age of occurrence of the Menarche

Abstract

The objective of the study was to analyze the feminine maturation, by means of the revision of literature with prominence in the menarche, pointing out its use in the sporting and health contexts and to point to the age at which this occurrence materializes in Brazilian and foreign girls from the decade of 1990. Considering the application of the age of menarche in the sporting context, the physical training appears as if it is an influence factor. In relation to the health context, it must be considered as to whether the menarche is advanced or delayed, therefore these cases were considered in association with this. Literature points out that in Brazilian girls the menarche is occurring around 12.2 years, and in foreign girls the age of occurrence of menarche is 12.9 years. It was concluded that the age of menarche becomes a tool that assists professionals who are acting with this population, in spite of this maturation measure serve as a marker of the social development.
