Investigating the construction of sportive life style through Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of habitus - doi: 10.4025/reveducfis.v21i2.5769

The procedures used more often in the investigation of active life habits formation do not approach or evaluate fundamental characteristics, such as the different perceptions structured by class habit or by other social stratifications, that are essential in Bourdieu’s conception to understand the preferences, tastes and life styles, frequently reputed to a rational and strictly personal choice. The originality of Pierre Bourdieu’s proposal calls attention to the need of using a kind of investigation based on the concept of habitus, in which the individual preferences or choices will be evaluated taking in consideration the definition of different social structures, and the concepts of hexis, ethos and structural elements (place, time of practice, free time, etc.).Downloads
