The objective of this study was to develop a bibliographic review related to the forces imposed to the human body in many sports modalities with the intention of minimizing the potential risks of lesion inherent to the practice, to identify peculiarities of each sport modality, and how the technique works for implementing the forces that act on the muscle-skeletal system. In order to achieve these objectives a search was performed in data bases on studies related to the vertical component of the ground reaction force (FRS), impact and lesions during the practice of varied sports. The results showed that during sport’s gesture, both, the jumps and the landings, deserve great attention regarding the high lesion potential for the skeletal-muscle structures. The magnitude of these forces may vary according to the technique, velocity and contact surface. A correct technique helps in the minimization of the forces that act on the skeletal-muscle system, and consequently produces a lower number of lesions.Downloads
