Abstract

The sports of high performance available for people with disabilities has increased significantly in recent decades. The identification and the interpretation of symptoms of stress may help in the understanding of the stress/performance relationship. The aim of the present study was to analyze the perception of stress in amputee soccer players. Eighteen male athletes for Amputee Soccer composed the sample. A Demographic questionnaire and Psychological Stress Test for Athletes with Disabilities (TEP-DF) were used, as well as descriptive and inferential statistics (Wilcoxon test). The situation that negatively influenced the performance of the athletes was 12-Lack of psychological preparation and the situation with more positive influences was 40-Being in a stable financial situation. When comparing the two dimensions (Psychobiologic and Environmental), significant differences were found (p = 0.009). It was concluded that the stress in Amputees Soccer is related to the psycho-vegetative disturbances and the structural aspects of the sport.
