Abstract

This experiment was carried out in order to determine the efficiency of some insecticides in the control of pickleworm (Diaphania nitidalis Cramer, 1782). It was performed in a greenhouse at the Irrigation Training Centre of State University of Maringá. The statistical design consisted of randomized sets with 7 treatments and 4 replications in a total of 28 sets. Esfenvarelate (doses of 1.88 and 2.5 g i.a./100 l of water), cartap (doses of 75.0, 100.0 and 125.0 g i.a./100 l of water), deltamethrine (0.75 g i.a./100 1 of water), and blank were the treatments used. According to the results obtained it can be concluded that the lower doses of esfenvarelate and deltamethrine did not present the necessary efficiency. Higher doses of esfenvarelate and all doses of cartap were efficient.
