A História Antiga através da História Global

This paper analyzes the possibilities and challenges of teaching Global History as applied to the study of Antiquity. It begins with the observation that traditional approaches often reproduce Eurocentric and compartmentalized perspectives, favoring narratives centered on the Greco-Roman world. The article proposes a broadening of the teaching repertoire, incorporating themes such as commercial, cultural, and political connections between different ancient civilizations, such as interactions between the Mediterranean, Africa, the Near East, and Asia. Pedagogical strategies that foster a more relational and comparative understanding of Antiquity are discussed, including the use of maps, diverse sources, and digital resources that allow for the visualization of networks of contact and the circulation of knowledge. It concludes that adopting a global perspective contributes to the development of critical skills and the appreciation of historical diversity in teaching, bringing Antiquity closer to contemporary discussions on globalization and interculturality.
