Abstract

The cities have for a long time tried to incorporate the notion of aesthetic, functional balance, and psychological resultant of the presence of the nature in its diverse forms. The public spaces have their basic role in the conformation of the city and its qualification. The urban planning, urban design, and the appropriation of these spaces are conditions to achieve ambience, conviviality, and sense of place. In this way, the project of the city, and consequently, of the public spaces, must concern the ambient and social aspects, focused as a process, as it creates and is created, continuously. This paper analysis the design of the city of Maringá, State of Paraná, focusing its planned landscape, widely divulged, and the relations established with the practices of everyday life, not always favorable to the permanence of the promised environmental quality

possui graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1990), mestrado em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2001) e doutorado em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela Universidade de São Paulo. É professora da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Tem experiência na área de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, com ênfase em estudos da cidade e da paisagem, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: maringá, planejamento urbano, desenho urbano, paisagem urbana e arquitetura Currí­culo Lattes
