Abstract

The relationship between vegetation in public squares and the urban population of Maringá PR Brazil is provided. The aim of this research was to analyze the attraction vegetation exerts on the visitors of public places, and at the same time investigates its importance for the city, keeping in mind aesthetic and environmental aspects. Quantitative data as well as a survey to detect people's opinion on the subject were employed. Study showed that the vegetation in public squares has an attractive character to people in general. It claims continuous policies of maintenance and preservation of these public places

Bruno Luiz Domingos De Angelis, UEM

Graduado em Agronomia pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1984), especialista em Arquitetura da Paisagem pela Universití  degli Studi di Pisa/Itália (1987) e doutor em Geografia (Geografia Humana) pela Universidade de São Paulo (2000). Atualmente é professor adjunto do Departamento de Agronomia da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Professor e orientador junto ao Programa de Pós-graduação em Geografia e do Programa de Pós-graduação em Engenharia Urbana, ambos da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Desenvolve pesquisa nas áreas de arborização de acompanhamento viário, áreas verdes urbanas (praças e parques) e espaços públicos urbanos. Currí­culo Lattes
