Sowing date in five soybean cultivars. II. Effect on the physiological seed quality
Abstract
This work was accomplished with the objective of evaluating the influence of the sowing date on the physiological seed quality of five soybean cultivars, Glycine max (L.) Merril (Leguminosae-Faboideae), and also to establish the best sowing period to produce seeds with better quality. Were conducted five cultivars assay in the agricultural year of 1999/00, in randomized blocks design. Each assay was sowed in different dates (15/10, 30/10, 15/11, 30/11 and 15/12). The evaluated cultivars were: BRS 132, BRS 133, BR 16, BRS 134 and FT- Estrela. The seeds obtained were evaluated, by the germination test (first and final count), classification of seedling vigor and accelerated aging. The sowing realized in the period between november three and 20, depending on the cultivar, went more favorable to obtain seeds with hightest physiological quality. BRS 133 presented the greatest stability in the seed production with better quality in the different evaluated sowing dates. Generally the BR 16 cultivar presented inferior performance and BRS 133 the superior performanceDownloads
