Digestible lysine and methionine+cystine requirements of growing broilers
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the digestible lysine and methionine+cystine (met+cis) diet requirements for broiler chickens of 22 to 42 day-old, feed rations with 3 lysine levels (0.90; 0.99 and 1.09%) and 3 met+cis levels (0.74; 0.81 and 0.89%). Weight gain (WG) and feed conversion (FC) were better in medium and high levels of lysine. Feed intake (FI) and viability (V) were not affected. The met+cis levels did not affect performance. Best CA interaction occurred in the 2 highest levels of aminoacids. The rate of lysine efficiency was influenced by lysine levels, albeit not by met+cis levels. The rate of methionine efficiency was influenced by lysine and met+cis, with interaction for this parameter. Carcass weight, carcass yield, abdominal fat and chemical composition of the breast meat were not affected by lysine and met+cis. For best performance, the digestible lysine and methionine+cystine levels must be 0.99% and 0.74%, respectively. If focus is on carcass or cut yield, the requirements of digestible lysine and methionine+cystine were 0.90 and 0.74%, respectively.Downloads
