Inclusion of handicapped people in school: physical education teacher’s opinion - DOI: 10.4025/actascihumansoc.v26i1.1565
Abstract
This study aimed at familiarizing with physical education teachers’ opinion who work with handicapped people. Such opinion concerns the scholar inclusion process and also demonstrates the teachers’ necessities when dealing with handicapped students. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of fourteen professionals who work in regular schools and in special handicapped people’s institutions. Results showed that a lot of professionals, during the period of their education preparation, neither had contact with subjects related to handicapped people nor to their inclusion, consequently presenting difficulties when they start working with these clients. An obstacle in relation to the success of inclusion was also observed. This was because while one group was optimist about it, another one believed that this process does not have the necessary support by the competent organs. The inclusion started in Maringá - Paraná before a regulamentation took place, ignoring some important procedures for its realization, as well as with no credit from a lot of Physical Education teachers who had to learn how to deal with this process by their own experience and not based on a specific legislationDownloads
