Violence in the schools of Maringá, Paraná State, Brazil - DOI: 10.4025/actascihumansoc.v30i1.2482
Abstract
Current investigation discusses the violence issue within the school context in the municipality of Maringá PR Brazil and analyzes its intensity, its different forms of manifestation and its repercussions in educational institutions. Data were collected through questionnaires comprising almost all the public and private junior and senior schools of the municipality. Study reveals a general diagnose that foregrounds future projects of intervention and prevention with regard to the above-mentioned phenomenon. Although data have shown an increase in physical aggressions within the schools, the existence of generalized and crude violence cannot be affirmed. It has been verified that the types of violence that most threaten the municipality’s educational system belong to a wholly diverse set of activities classified as micro-violence or non-civilities. Data show that repressive measures should be discarded and that the issue must be dealt with as a pedagogical and policy problem.Downloads
