<b>Distance education and professional education: a look at the follow-up of alumni
Abstract
Distance Education democratizes vocational education through the insertion of professionals in the labor market. This study aimed to investigate the follow - up of the graduates as an instrument of educational management for the evaluation of vocational training. It is a case study with a qualitative-quantitative approach, in which, an online questionnaire was applied to graduates of the technical courses on Occupational Safety, Environment and Events offered in the EAD modality by the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí, and interview with managers of this institution. It should be noted that, although we do not ignore the other concepts attributed to the term, this study adopts, as a theoretical basis, the concept of egress presented by Lousada and Martins (2005), according to which the student is officially and is able to enter the labor market. The results revealed that there is no systematic follow-up of the graduates that allows the institution to appropriate indicators about the effectiveness of the courses; and that the management of egress is essential for making possible the feedback of the training offered, the indicators of professional insertion and for a fast and permanent communication between training institution, graduates and the labor market.
