Forced mobility - the political economy of human displacements

Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate the work-centered mobility notion. Therefore a historical survey of the classic economists who incorporated this concept was carried out and its use critically evaluated. Starting from the historical materialism, a more consistent application of the notion of mobility. The idea of forced mobility established twenty years ago by Jean Paul de Gaudemar and centered on Marx’s value/work concept, has been observed, which has trough an important theoretical contribution to the studies of population geography.

Márcio Mendes Rocha, UEM
Possui graduação em Geografia pela Universidade de São Paulo (1985), mestrado em Extensão Rural pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1991) e doutorado em Geografia (Geografia Humana) pela Universidade de São Paulo, com estágio doutoral na Université Paris I - Panthéon Sorbone, (1999). Pós- Doutorado pela UNESP-Rio Claro e Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2005). Atualmente é Prof. Associado da Universidade Estadual de Maringá, Coordenador do NEMO (Núcleo de Estudos de Mobilidade e Mobilização) e do Núcleo Local da UNITRABALHO Maringá. É parecerista da Revista Árvore, Boletim de Geografia, Revista Terra Plural . Tem experiência na área de Geografia, com ênfase em Mobilidade Humana, Economia Solidária e Desenvolvimento Local, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: dinâmica populacional, urbanização, produção local, cidades e mobilidade da força de trabalho e Diagnóstico de Potencialidades Produtivas Locais Currículo Lattes
