Social change and conciliation in Euclides da Cunha
Abstract
This article deals with the central aspects of the questionings by Euclides da Cunha about the impasses, the difficulties and the possibilities of social change in Brazil. His reflections about the Brazilian politics in the 19th century will be considered the basis for this analysis. Taking the conflict as a starting point for all political action, the author of “Os Sertões” (The Backwoods) delineated the movements of several agents and social groups in the process of construction of balances between the preponderant social forces.Downloads
