Literacy reading as place of freedom in an incarcerating environment: reflection possibilities on social problems
Abstract
This article was the result of a scientific initiation research (PIBIC) whose aim was to contribute to the literary literacy of adolescents incarcerated in a Female Imprisonment Unit (FIU). The theoretical framework is represented by studies in the field of literary literacy. The methodology, of a qualitative nature, as a case study, included to read motivational texts and to writ productions with fragments of memories, to select images indicated by the adolescents, to hold a leisure workshop to produce the noteboks covers, to organize conversation circles about the selected literary text, to expand the reading with dialogues and writing compositions for collection and generation of data. After steeps of reading and talks about the book Becos da memoria, by Conceição Evaristo, texts were produced by the adolescents in circumstances of imprisonment about to their own life stories. The results indicated interest from the internals in the literary reading and the writing of recorded autobiographical texts, based on the personal memories of the places where they lived, so they could connect literature and real life. It was concluded that the selected book helped them to reflect on their contexts, activated affective memories and had favoured significant written.
