Portuguese as host language: an overview of dissertations and theses produced in Brazil
Abstract
This retrospective paper aimed to redraw a general landscape of dissertations and theses produced in Brazil centered on the theme Portuguese as a Host Language. This work focuses on the most recent times of scientific production in the last years. The studies were mapped through the Theses and Dissertations Catalog of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. From the total of suggestion studies, 15 dissertations and 4 theses were identified. In order to carry out this State of the Art, we started with six guiding questions, such as: a) How is the academic production distributed considering the institution of origin, region of the country, academic degree and funding? b) What objects have been investigated? c) What works are frequently cited? d) How are the methodological paths outlined? e) What recommendations can be made for future research? Based on what has been accumulated and analyzed, we highlight some challenges for the field of Portuguese as a Host Language.
