Abstract

The self-assessment of oral health is a measure that synthesizes the objective condition of oral health, its functionality, and the social and cultural values related to it. The objective of the study was to evaluate the self-perception of oral health of users of a dental service. A questionnaire was applied to 214 patients aged 18 to 86 years old attending the dental clinic of UNIPAR, campus Cascavel - PR. This instrument was based on the SB - Brazil 2010 questionnaire (National Oral Health Survey), containing open and closed multiple choice questions, in the period from March 2021 to November 2022. Most of the interviewees were female (65%). Among the results on self-reported dental morbidity, prevalence and severity of toothache, 90.7% believed to have dental problems. Regarding toothache in the last 6 months 48.6% did not have it and 50.5% had it. Regarding the impact of oral health conditions on daily life (OIDP - "Oral Impacts on Daily Performances") most (56.1%) have had difficulties eating/drinking because of their teeth. It is noted the prevalence of the female gender in the demand for dental services. Although most respondents have consulted dental services for less than a year, they still need some kind of treatment and are not satisfied with their current oral health condition.
