A A terapia miofuncional orofacial como tratamento para a apneia obstrutiva do sono: revisão integrativa

Resumo

Introdução: o sono é um processo biológico essencial cuja interrupção compromete sua função reparadora. A Síndrome da Apneia Obstrutiva do Sono (SAOS) é uma condição prevalente, afetando o sono e a qualidade de vida da população. Objetivo: Este estudo investiga a eficácia da Terapia Miofuncional Orofacial (TMO) no controle da SAOS. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura com a questão central: a TMO é eficaz no tratamento da SAOS? Método: a busca foi realizada nas bases PubMed, BVS, SciELO, Cochrane e Embase. Foram incluídos artigos completos em português e inglês, e excluídos estudos incompletos, duplicados, que abordavam outros tratamentos e/ou que utilizavam a TMO apenas em pós-cirúrgicos. Resultados: a amostra final foi composta por 9 artigos, publicados entre 2017 e 2025. A TMO melhora os índices agravantes da SAOS. Conclusão: conclui-se que a TMO é uma opção terapêutica eficaz, especialmente como tratamento complementar aos convencionais.
