OPEN INNOVATION: AN ANALYSIS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION CENTERS OF THE PARANÁ STATE UNIVERSITIES

Abstract
The article sought to understand the performance of the Technological Innovation Centers (NIT) of the Paraná state universities and, secondarily, i) diagnose the profile of each NIT; ii) verify if there is adoption of practices focused on the Open Innovation (OI) model; and iii) identify the maturity stage of (OI) of each university, following the model of Chesbrough e Crowther (2006). The methodology is characterized as a qualitative study, with an exploratory character, with the collection of data through documentary research and questionnaires. The results were submitted to content analysis. Among the main results, it became evident that most professionals who are in charge of the work carried out in the NITs of the universities in the study know the term OI and the relevance of the actions of each NIT, given that together they accumulated until December 2017: 395 patents, 65 computer programs and 28 registered trademarks. Theoretically, it contributes to a systematization of a core concepts on University-Enterprise Interaction, Technological Innovation Center, with emphasis on the theme of Open Innovation. Managerially, the results of this study can provide joint learning for the researched agents, in addition to promoting the debate and contributing to other universities that have or are interested in organizing their NIT. In addition, detailing the results can promote greater interest from the private sector by knowing the potential that NIT promote to related businesses.
