Abstract

The last three years have been plagued by major challenges from a health and scientific point of view. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic generated a painful period for the economy and the world financial market. Among some impacts, one can mention the increase in social inequality, the unemployment rate, reductions in the Gross Domestic Product and a drop in Stock Exchanges, as well as the increase in investment volatility (ZHANG; HU; JI, 2020; MAZUR; DANG; VEJA, 2021). The race to develop a vaccine brought society and academia closer together. At the same time, this proximity made evident the financial, physical, and structural challenges that scientific production is exposed to. The development of science is a complex process that requires dedication, qualified researchers, physical infrastructure, and government support. In addition to these challenges, in the national context, researchers accumulate functions, including teaching, research, extension, and management functions, limiting the time dedicated to research activities (SOUZA et al., 2020).

Faced with the challenges of scientific research, especially in the Brazilian context, it is with joy that we present the new edition of the Caderno de Administração (CAdm) by Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM).
