Epidemiological profile of patients of a university hospital on hemodialysis

Abstract
This study is a descriptive and ecological type with the purpose of describing the sociodemographic, clinical and epidemiological data on patients with chronic kidney disease (IRCT) and hemodialysis. All data were collected through medical records stored manually in the Medical Records and Statistics Service, Federal University of Triangulo Mineiro. From January 1 to December 31, 2006, 29 charts out 30 patients with IRCT on hemodialysis were analyzed. Males predominated with 58.6% and aged 30-39 years, corresponding to 31%; 62% white; 34.5% smokers, 17.2% were alcoholists and 20.7% were obese. Regarding risk factors, 82.7% had systemic hypertension, 48.3% had other cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus 41.4%, 24.1% renal lithiasis, chronic glomerulonephritis 17.1%, 17.1% infection urinary tract, 6.9% had chronic pyelonephritis, and 3.4% had lupus nephritis. The results allow to know the epidemiological profile of patients in order to aid the planning of assistance focused on prevention, thereby reducing the inflow of customers in renal replacement therapy.Downloads
