A male perception on the care received from professionals who care for their partners affected by hypertensives syndromes

Abstract
This study had the purpose of identify the male’s perception regarding the care provided from health professionals to their partners who are affected by gestational hypertension. This is an exploratory and descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, developed in two public hospitals in Natal, Brazil. Participated in the investigation 15 male individuals whose partners were affected by hypertensive disorders. Data were collected through semi-structured interview after attending the ethical principles according to Resolution 196/96 of the National Health Council and opinion of Ethics Committee of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, under No. 81/07. Transcripts were treated according to Bardin’s content analysis, and analyzed based on the guidelines of National Policy of Humanization and by the Program for Humanization of Prenatal and Birth. Results pointed to a lack of support from the man in face of his partner's pregnancy affected by gestational hypertension, and no information about his partner affected by that pathology. Moreover, it was observed the need for training of health professionals who work in the context of reproductive health. Therefore, it can be argued that Health Institutions within which this study was carried out, humanization of obstetric care political involving the partner is yet to be implemented.Downloads
