Abstract
An exploratory descriptive study accomplished in December 2005 and January 2006 in the intent to verify which roles school hospital nurses assign to the various posts occupied by this category. Took part in the research and responded to a self-applicable questionnaire 35 subjects. The reported roles were categorized into Administrative, Care, Information System and Educative. The implementation of mainly political administrative activities is assigned to the Nursing Director; in addition to political administrative activities in the sector, care planning, information and educative activities are assigned to the Division Chief; direct leadership/supervision of the nursing team, prevision and provision of resources and the implementation of direct care are assigned to the Supervisor. Little administrative activities and no action regarding patient education are assigned to the Caring Nurse, mainly assigned to be in charge of the more complex direct care. Though most of the activities correspond to the posts, there is a need for better delimitation and clarification on the matter.Downloads
