<b>Contributions of the family health tutorial education program (tep) to the training of nurses and physicians in Cuiabá, Brazi</b> doi: 10.4025/cienccuidsaude.v11i4.13600l
Abstract
This article reports the functioning of the Program for Health Education through Work / Family Health (PET-Saúde/SF) in Cuiabá, MT, Brazil. The stages of implementation are described, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses found in the process. The strengths consisted in the implementation carried out through an extension project, which included students and faculty of Nursing and Medicine programs, as well as professionals from 12 teams of the Family Health Strategy program (FHS). Overall, the project provided assistance to more than 4000 individuals residing in areas covered by the FHS program. In the fieldwork setting, strong approximation of participating subjects was observed around the ideals permeating Family Health and the Brazilian Unified Health Care System (SUS), resulting in highly significant learning both by students and other participants in the project. Weaknesses included some changes in the management of the Municipal Health Office, generating a limited number of difficulties that were nonetheless overcome.
