Abstract

Quantitative descriptive study aimed to analyze the non-reporting of data from the Information System on Live Births, regarding unfavorable conditions at the birth. Research accomplished considering births registered at System, in the State of Paraná in 2008, available on the website of the Ministry of Health. There was significant correlation of no-declaration of births occurred out of a hospital, in municipal districts away from Regional Health Office, premature births, with low birth weight and from mothers with low education level. Paradoxically, births with a higher risk of morbidity and mortality and that need further research and investment to eliminate regional disparities are not well documented. The possible difficulties in the access to prenatal care and flaws in communication and assistance can influence the appropriate registration of the Declaration of Live Birth. It is necessary to train the health team, and to maintain the equipments updated in order to have a comprehensive and worth use of the Information System.
