Abstract
The adolescent is involved by several factors that influence their development process. The family and their relationships are included in the context. Considering that, the purpose of this study was to investigate the adolescent’s understanding on the importance of family relationships in the development process. It is a research based on a qualitative approach, having as subject 14 teenager students in a public institution of education in the Brazilian northeast. A semi-structured interview was carried out for the collection of data from June to August 2010. Data was analyzed in the light of the methodological resource of the Discourse of the Collective Subject, generating the following themes: Dialogue: the basis that sustains the family; Family relationships and their representations and Finding Difficulties to express feelings in the family environment. The analysis and interpretation of the discourses allowed to understand the magnitude of communication for the family dynamics, revealing weaknesses in the existing family relationships and the impact on the adolescents’ development. Thus, Nursing needs to launch its look at the context in which the teenager is inserted, in order to better manage the care provided for these patients and their families.Downloads
