Nursing diagnoses from elderly people who live in nursing homes

Abstract
This qualitative-quantitative study is exploratory-descriptive and aims at describing the main Nursing Diagnoses made in elderly people who live in a nursing home; its objective is to implement the Systematization of the Nursing Assistance (SNA). The subjects in this study were fifty-three elderly people that were used a structured form named Elderly People’s Multidimensional Assessment It comprises: identification, social and family matters, a physical examination, a cognitive Assessment, affective Assessment, functional Assessment and the evaluator’s impressions. After the results; were possible to identified Twenty-five Nursing Diagnoses according to North American Nursing Diagnosis Association - NANDA. The main ones were identified from the title: Sensorial-perceptive disorders: pain; Sensorial-perceptive disorders: auditory; Lack of the volume of liquids; Teeth alterations; Oral mucous disorders; Difficulty in swallowing; Nutritional alterations: less food than the body needs; Sleeping disorders; Fatigue; Difficulties concerning physical mobility; Urinary alterations; Constipation; Skin alterations; Social isolation; Anxiety; Alterations in family processes; Lack of spare time activities; potential to increase the spiritual well-being. Perceived who these diagnoses and the intervention require that the nurses have specific knowledge and capacities such as: empathy, emotional commitment, and, above all, respect for the human being.Downloads
