Abstract
The present study shows a client-centered interaction which was carried out at CAPS (Center of Psychosocial Care), Ribeirão Preto/SP. This activity was developed along with the graduation subject “Interpersonal Relationship in Nursing”, at School of Nursing of Ribeirão Preto – USP, developed from March to June 2006. The interaction occurred through an interview, using the non-directive technique, where the nurse attempted to understand the client, encouraging him to express his concerns and yearnings, and concentrating not on his problem but on the person. Some speeches were lost because of disconnection, but the nurse tried to clarify the expressed ideas and create favorable conditions, so that the client could himself get the meaning of his illness. The core of the interaction was the client and everything he considered significant. The nurse was the aiding person. The “non-directivity” is a complex approach, it is therapeutic whenever the client expresses his feelings and the nurse is able to understand it and help him according to his necessities.Downloads
