Abstract
A model of competency assessment methodology is being developed within the context of the Professional Training Project for Nursing Workers. It is a political initiative of a pedagogical nature, undertaken by the Brazilian Ministry of Health and aimed at improving nursing workers’ practices. The methodology of competency assessment is based on the critical-emancipatory perspective and comprises three dimensions: know how to know, know how to do and know how to be. This study reports the experience of elaborating this methodology, evidencing the assumptions, the evaluation strategies and exams used in this process. In conclusion, the relevance of this process is affirmed – it will be applied in different settings of nursing practice in Brazil and will enable the development and qualification of both the evaluated and evaluators.Downloads
