Nursing care as an strategic action

Abstract
This study presents a reflection on nursing care as an strategic action oriented by the ideas of Jurgen Habermas who states that the teleological action is structured monologically, and based on tradition and normative consensus. On the teleological action, the individuals seek for power and the satisfaction of certain values, passions or wishes. Their goals are utilitarian, evaluative or affective considering results and values as means, but not their consequences. Their orientation is not social because it is not founded on the behavior of other individuals, and does not consider the actions of distinct participants of the interaction. The authors conclude that the instrumental domination of care is present at health services and it is perpetuated in the actions oriented by the standards, resulting in the mechanization of care and in the existence of a communicative process which lacks spontaneity and which is linked to the technical world, where everything is moved by the eagerness of searching for the professional satisfaction when the user/family is submitted to its logic.Downloads
