Abstract
This is an experience report on the implementation of strategies for the complementary academic activity of Health Monitoring of Women and Children, as provided by the Nursing Course at State University of Maringá. It was performed with the objective of improving the process in a practical-theoretical manner by means of procedures, theoretical discussions and shared experiences during and after supervised practices in Women, Children and Newborn Health. This activity offers students a rich exchange of experiences, practical training, guidance, in addition to explanations that can support the teaching-learning process, with the aim of developing confidence and abilities. As such, an attempt was made to turn the activity of monitoring into an effective opportunity for learning in the area of Women, Children and Newborn Health, through the following strategies: Adequate Preparation of Lab and Materials; Dividing up monitoring hours; Updating of bibliographic materials and teaching resources; Creation of a stamp to identify the course’s printed material; Creation of a promotional poster; Organizing of learning kits; Monitor Training. We observed an increase in demand and interest by students for monitoring in this discipline, with the intention of further improving this complementary academic activity in benefit of all.Downloads
