Living with a schizophrenic person: family overburden

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to identify the additional burden imposed to family in their daily activities because of the close association to a schizophrenia diagnosed person. This study allowed verifying that family members who live in close association to a patient diagnosed as a schizophrenic, for more than five yers, are submitted to three types of burdens: 1) financial burdens, 2) family routine burdens and, 3) burdens in the way of physical and emotional diseases.
