Abstract
The study had a proposal the unveiling of the world lived by teenage girls ‘who realize to be obese’, trying to achieve an understanding of this existance through the Merleau-Ponty's phenomenon of body perception. Fourteen statements were collected from teenage girls, starting from the question: “What does realizing to be obese in adolescence mean to you?”. I searched, thus, for meanings of the experience in their lives of teenage girls. I could, then, comprehended that the teenage girls express the cultural world awareness, which discriminates the obese and values the slim. Therefore, those teenage girls’ perception of themselves and of others influences their living, generating obstacles in their sexual lives, family, school and among friends.Downloads
