Abstract
This work had as objectives: 1) understanding the reality of the family care system for the elderly with vascular brain accident (CVA), 2) implementing a support to the family care system for the elderly with CVA starting from a holistic perspective of health. The sample was made up by five families. From the holistic referential's concepts of health formulated by CAPRA (1997), we articulated a reserarch-action with a Participative Observation Strategy and the Drawing-Story Procedures with a Theme technique as instruments for data generation. The data was submitted to the thematic analysis, which allowed the identification of three themes: 1) the main caretaker as a focus of the family care system for the elderly with CVA; 2) the family care system as complexities and singularities context and 3) the holistic nature of the family care system for the elderly with CVA. A health holistic perspective support was implemented to the elderly with CVA's family care, which presented itself as adequate in diminishing the illnes impact on the elderly's life, as well as on its relatives.Downloads
