Abstract
This is a descriptive study carried out in two ICUs of a private hospital in Natal, with 40 patients, with the objective of identifying the incidence of pressure ulcer (PU), and verifying its association with risk factors. Data collection was conducted with an observation form and physical exam of the skin. The uppermost incidence of PU was in male individuals (70.0%); the predominant diagnostic hypothesis was respiratory illness (42.3%), 60.0% presented 1 to 2 PU after 7 days and the most frequent sites were the sacral (40.0%) and heels (36.0%) areas. Twenty-five pressure ulcers were diagnosed with incidence of 50.0%, and it was observed an association of 17.3% among the risk factors and predisposed conditions (p=0.0384). The incidence of UP on ICU patients was high. The association of factors verified in the present study, shows the relevance of searching for the influence of multiple factors and conditions which increase the risks of UP occurrences.Downloads
