Abstract

This is a theoretical reflection which aims to discuss the concept of quality of life and health promotion in the current context of the risk society, claiming to show aspects that can contribute to a better understanding of it in a way to offer different perspectives to the “praxis” in health. For that, this article uses the work of Ulrich Beck and Antony Giddens as a theoretical basis, which points out to a new view to the discussion of the contemporaneous way of living. It also explores the concepts of quality of life and health promotion aiming to get analysis parameters. In most cases, we comprehend that, talking about risks and quality of life implicates in giving space to the revision of the hypothesis that have consequences in the theoretical and social practices which are open to the multidimensionality, empowering the involved subjects’ subjectivity, giving centrality to the risks in the health-disease process’s analysis, and so, achieving a new look to the “praxis” in health.
