Abstract
The violence is a complex phenomenon that has, in its roots, the interaction of biological, economical, social, historical, ethical and political factors. The objectives of this study were to identify the Brazilian scientific production regarding violence against women; describe the quotidian of such violence; and discuss its implications in women’s health. It is a narrative review of literature in articles in the LILACS databases searching for the words “violência” [violence] AND “mulher” [woman] OR “mulheres” [women] from 1994 to 2008. The data was submitted to statistical treatment and content analysis. In the analysis of the daily dimension it was understood that women and professionals have the comprehension that violence is natural and habitual. This violence is limited in the home space and in the domestic relationships established between men and women. The implications of violence against women result in harm to physical and mental health, and it is a violation of human rights and a public health problem that needs to be faced by the health professionals.Downloads
