Abstract
This study aims to describe the occurrence of traffic accidents and identify risk behaviors among the junior and senior students of a public university in a descriptive and exploratory way. Among the 125 interviewed students, the average age was 20.7 years old, mostly women, from families that earned more than 5 minimum wages (60%) and had driver’s license (51.2%). Around 30% of students have already been involved in traffic accidents. Although the majority considers the driver's recklessness as the major cause of accidents, only 50% of them "always" use the seat belt while driving. The results from this study confirm the risky behavior among the university students and the importance of educational measures to prevent accidents.Downloads
