Abstract

The aim of this study was to present the work developed in the extent of the Group of Study and Research of Family, Nursing and Health (GEPEFES), which is centered in the knowledge production concerning the health of the families that live in contexts of psicosocial risk, in a resilience perspective. Qualitative study developed with 32 families, in an area in the south of Brazil, in the period from 2005 to 2007, seeking to develop, to implement and to evaluate intervention strategies, favoring the resilience process, in the family and social context. The data collection used was: interviews, observations and questionnaires. The data were analyzed through the content analysis. Approved for the Committee of Ethics in Research of theUniversidade Federal do Rio Grande. The results were presented and discussed through three categories: The context of life of the families defining limits of the resilience concept; the specificity of the nursing intervention with the families; and applications and implications of the resilience concept for the professional practice. So we conclued that the work with families in situation of risk has been showing that, although in contexts with high risk indexes for the health and human development, it is possible to accomplish a care with views to level their capacities in a resilient perspective.
