Abstract

The Revista Hispano Cubana, established in Madrid in 1998, can be considered as a space of affirmation of Cuban culture in exile. In it, the literature produced in exile is understood as a legitimate form of opposition to the Cuban government and at the same time as a way of redemption. In its pages, through numerous reviews, the journal gives visibility to certain figures of Cuban literature that are not recognized by the cultural policy of Castro’s government. Understanding how Revista Hispano Cubana legitimates and mobilizes a Cuban exile literature to weave its criticism of Castro’s regime is the main goal of the article. Besides, we will reflect on the arguments that the journal uses to legitimate the existence of an exilic tradition in Cuba and of an exile literature.
