Abstract
The lack of identification, recognition, evaluation and disclosure of intangible assets (AI's) have its accountsto reflect the gap between the value of company shares traded in relation to its book value. The objective ofthis research is to investigate the value of intangible assets (IA's) as the difference between market valueand assets of the companies listed on BM & F in the period 2003 to 2008 for industry, commerce andservices. This study adopts the secondary data source, is exploratory and quantitative stands out as a studyof descriptive nature and still a research survey by a study with 60 companies. The main findings were: i) inall sectors, but not in all companies, was found AI recognized by investors, ii) for each sector were fewcompanies over the years stood out with the highest percentages of AI iii ) is the industry sector recorded the highest mean AI recognized by the market in each year surveyed, followed by services and trade finally iv) the commercial sector is achieved better performance in the evolution of mean AI, followed by industry andservices; v) the influence of external factors in determining the price of the shares of companies in the caseof 2008 with the U.S. crisis, did the share prices of some companies pull back sharply, among other results.Downloads
