THE STUDY OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND DESIGN IN THE APPREHENSION OF THE URBAN LANDSCAPE
Abstract
Considering that the Study of the Environment supports a more dynamic teaching of Geography and that favors geographic reasoning, this work was built with the objective of broadening the debate on this methodology in the study of the city and the urban landscape. The article was developed based on an action research of the scholarship holders of the Institutional Program of Initiation to Teaching - PIBID of the Geography course at Unespar, with 6th graders in a school in the city of Campo Mourão / PR. The methodology consisted of studying the environment with students in the different neighborhoods of the city where they lived. The completion of a questionnaire on school georeferencing revealed that most students lived in places far from the school. The housing districts were spatialized in the urban plan, and then visited with the students, who observed the different urban landscapes and represented them with drawings. The fieldwork enabled the articulation between everyday knowledge and scientific knowledge and favored abstractions. The student's geographical view of the different neighborhoods confirmed that the landscape is perceived differently by individuals and favored the discussion about city life and citizenship.
