THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONTENT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHING OF GEOGRAPHY AND CONSOLIDATION OF TEACHER PROFESSIONALISM
Abstract
This article is part of the reflections that are being developed in my dissertation in the Mater’s Program in Geography from the State University of Maringá. The guiding objective of this research is a study of the importance of teaching knowledge produced and mobilized by teachers of Geography, especially the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (CPC), proposed by Lee S. Shulman, and its relationship with the development of the teaching of Geography and the consolidation of teacher professionalism. We believe that when the teacher of geography develops the CPC in his classes, this knowledge may help the teacher to develop a specific didactic to teach geographical contents, transforming them into more interesting, understandable and useful contents for students. In this attempt, we question pedagogical practices of an experienced teacher of Geography, active in teaching Basic network NRE - Regional Center of Maringa, PR, through the observations of classrooms and interviews, in which we will still do, considering the accumulated in initial and continuing training knowledge, the relationship between the knowledge produced and mobilized by them in organizing practices of geographic education in the classroom and the development of their professionalism.
