Abstract

This paper discusses the inclusion of Scientific and Technological Literacy in the real curriculum of teaching of Natural Sciences in Brazilian indigenous education. The Scientific and Technological Literacy is one of the requirements for citizenship in this economic, cultural, informational and technological globalization century. A qualitative method was used, combined with participant observation in 104 classes of Natural Sciences, developed in four classes from the sixth to the ninth year of elementary school in an Indian Community School of Bahia. It was observed in situ that: The Scientific and Technological Literacy was not inserted in the classroom;  in the school observed the Political Pedagogical Project did not include the teaching of basic skills and abilities of Science and Technology. It is concluded that this situation may be occurring in other Indian schools of the country signaling that the curriculum guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education have not been met in the actual curriculum and that is necessary to improve the indigenous teacher training in specific intercultural graduation courses.
