Dentro das fontes antigas relativas a Alexandre, a Vida de Alexandre de Plutarco adapta dados da tradição de acordo com o modelo biográfico. Os tópicos da ‘origem, carácter e educação’ ajudam a criar o modelo de um paradigma: o do conquistador e ‘rei filósofo’.
