Statistic education: objectives, perspectives and difficulties

Abstract

Current analysis discusses the growth and consolidation of education statistics in basic education in Brazil, called Statistical Education as a contrast to execution barriers in schools, and debates the aims of Statistical Education. Statistical Education trains students in statistics and probability as from the first years at school for the better conditions of the citizen facing the most varied information present in society. One may observe the growth and consolidation of research in Brazil related to Statistical Education in basic education and the several factors that hinder the execution of Statistical Education in basic education. The need to develop research during initial and continuous formation of Mathematics teachers of basic education should be underscored to show the relevance of Statistical Education. It must be emphasized that Statistical Education and Mathematics Education have different objectives. In fact, didactic material which will help the teacher´s practice should be undertaken and validated.

Danieli Walichinski, Secretaria Estadual de Educação/PR
Possui graduação em Licenciatura em Matemática pela Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (2002) e Mestrado em Ensino de Ciência e Tecnologia pela Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - Campus Ponta Grossa (2012). Faz parte do Quadro Próprio do Magistério Público Estadual do Paraná, lecionando Matemática nos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental e no Ensino Médio. Atualmente é aluna do curso de Doutorado em Ensino de Ciência e Tecnologia da UTFPR- campus Ponta Grossa.

Possui graduação em Licenciatura em Matemática pela Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (1993), Mestrado em Ciências Geodésicas pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (2001) e Doutorado em Ciências Geodésicas pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (2005). Atualmente é professor na Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - Câmpus Ponta Grossa. Atua na Graduação com a disciplina probabilidade e estatística para cursos de engenharia. Também atua na pós-graduação: Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia de Produção (orienta e trabalha com disciplina Métodos Estatisticos) e no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Ciência e Tecnologia (orienta e trabalha com a disciplina Tópicos de Estatística Aplicada). Foi coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Ciência e Tecnologia no período de 09-07-2009 a 10-04-2012.
