REFLECTIONS ON THE IMPACTS OF RACIST DISCOURSES ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE BLACK POPULATION AND SCHOOL KNOWLEDGE
Abstract
This article aims to reflect on the black subject and his relationship with school knowledge. To this end, we started from a bibliographical research with the aim of to discuss how the pejorative discourses about the black population, present in the media and in school environments, impact on the way they relates to school knowledge. To this, we chose the literary text Lembrança das lições (1996), by Cuti, pseudonym of the writer Luiz Silva,to serve as a triggering element of this problem, since it manages to exemplify some dramas commonly experienced by this group withinof the school. In this sense, we conclude that many derogatory discourses about the Brazilian black population, with wide dissemination in school, can serve as an obstaclein the relationship they will establish with school knowledge, thus preventing them from developing their potential through formal education.
